The packet with questions and answers on it you gave us said that Japan was made up of four MAIN islands. Are there smaller others around Japan? If so, what are their names? Will you go there? Anyways, I think I would like Japan! Please try to find out the presidents name!
CK12: Flag Question Japan's flag is a white, rectangular flag with a large red disc. The white represents peace and honesty. The red circle represents the sun and the color means bravery and strength.

We will being doing a skype lesson on some frequent Japanese words. I am not good at it, but I do try. I try to speak a little Japanese so people know I am trying and putting in an effort.
I wonder what Japanese food tastes like. Is the sushi different than here? Does it taste oily? Salty? What do they eat for dessert? WHat are their most popular foods?
I see you had a fun time on your first day of Japan. I hoped you liked seeing those big temples. It really is amazing that it was built that long ago.Question why does the time change a lot?But what I really do wonder is why the money in Japan worth more? NH#8
SF5 and RL14: Food So far I had 4 dinners here. **Smile** Out of the four, one was an American meal at the theme park. But the other 3 were good. I was nervous, just like you would be to try new things. But my theory is, when will I have an opportunity to be in Japan again and try new things. So even though I didn't try Sushi yet, I will! I need too. Life is suppose to be trying new things and experiencing them. So, SF5, I will let you know your answers once I have the opportunity to try it. In the fake food representation and pictures, sushi looks the same.
The temples and shrines are my favorite part of the trip so far (not counting my husband's ride). They are so big that the pictures do not give it justice. Each temple and shrine we went to, we were shocked at how large the beams were. I wondered how they were able to lift the bigger pieces. The sights are truly amazing!
To answer your questions, I will do it over Skype because those are great questions but difficult to just write down. We will talk about it tomorrow! Great thinking!!!
GS19: I think you would love Japan too. It is a beautiful and wonderful country.
Here are your answers to your questions. Well thought out questions.
I will not be able to go to the other islands. It would be nice, I am just going to run out of time to do everything.
Land: Japan is an archipelago of 6,852 islands. SO I am not going to list all of them. **Smile** However, the four largest islands are Honshū, Hokkaidō, Kyūshū and Shikoku. This accounts for 97% of Japan's land area. (Which is about the size of California - just a little smaller). Most of the islands are mountainous, many volcanic; for example, Japan’s highest peak, Mount Fuji, is a volcano.
Government:
The Emperor does not have any effective power but is only the symbol of the state.
Emperor: AKIHITO Prime Minister Yukio HATOYAMA
There are different parties in the Japanese government. They have a Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ), Japan Communist Party (JCP, Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), People's New Party (PNP), Social Democratic Party (SDP)
Yukio Hatoyama has been Prime Minister of Japan since September 2009. He became President of the Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ), the main opposition party, in May 2009. He then led the party to victory in the August 2009 general election, defeating the long-governing Liberal Democratic Party (LDP).
I loved the story " The Boy Who Drew Cats." It was very well illustrated and written. One of the parts that I liked, was when the boy went into the cupboard, because it got really freaky. Overall, I think it was a really good book. mi 10
My favorite story is The Boy Who Drew Cats. I like it because it is very exciting and unexpected. I think the picture of the cat was pretty cool because it had fur like a soft easy lion. I liked the part when the cats killed the gobblin and everybody thanked the hero who drew the cats and became an artist. SF5
If you are asking about the restrooms there, I can tell you about them. First of all, the toilets are very odd. They have buttons that ask you what you want it to do. One of the buttons say clean your but. You do not need to use toilet paper. There is toilet paper anyways.
P.S. I learned that from my mom and dad when they went to Japan.
Do you like most of the food in Japan?
